Biography

Ellen Scharaga, Senior Vice President of Operations at OncoMed Pharmaceutical Services, has overseen the finances and operations of New York pharmaceutical companies for most of her career. A New York state-certified pharmacist, Ellen Scharaga has worked in leadership positions for the New York branches of Health Infusion, National Medical Care, and Homedco Infusion.

Taking the helm at OncoMed in 2009, Ellen Scharaga now manages the call center, prescription distribution, and policy and procedures development and implementation. OncoMed, founded in 2003, serves the oncology and hematology needs of doctors, patients, drug manufacturers, and managed care organizations. Ellen Scharaga's knowledge of industry best practices leads the company to success, most notably a 50 percent increase in staff, Joint Commission Accreditation for all branches in 2010, and a 30 percent reduction in prescription turnaround time.

Ellen Scharaga received her Bachelor's degree in Pharmacology in 1982 at St John's University in Jamaica, New York. Ellen Scharaga is a member of the Hematology Oncology Pharmacy Association, the Academy of Managed Care Pharmacy, and the Pharmaceutical Society of New York. In her leisure time, Ellen Scharaga contributes to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and the Alzheimer's Foundation of America. She also volunteers for the American Cancer Society, Inc., walks, and reads.
